Well, its pretty much the end of the race season & most of our customers have faired well, in the Central Muscle Car Series Australian Paul Stubber who’s 69 Camaro we maintain between rounds has won Group 1, Paul Sinclairs Commodore came 3rd in Group 1 & Mandy Sinclair came 3rd in Group 2.

In the GT1 series John Rae came 3rd overall due to having to miss a whole race meeting through business commitments.
In Pre-65 Jeff Warn’s EH Holden won overall, Justin Butcher is currently leading the Northern Musclecar Series in his green Dick Johnson clone Falcon so hopefully he can carry that through.

We just have a GT1 support race on May 8th at the WRC promotional day at Hampton downs & the Hamilton 400 to do with Nick Ross.

Other work going on in the shop has included Gary & Tina Walkers 69 Mustang, all the panelwork was completed before we got our hands on it, we will be remounting a V8 quad-cam boss Falcon engine & 6-speed, RH drive conversion, mounting a pedalbox with a new firewall, mounting & plumbing a new power steer rack & improving the front suspension geometry. There is potentially more to be done but as usual we will keep in constant contact with Gary & Tina & proceed as they wish.

Dave Bests wheels for his 65 Corvette have finally arrived as pictured so now we can continue with rear driveshafts & finishing the front suspension work required to get the car rolling. Once again there is plenty more to do but we will progress as Dave wishes.

Andrew Turners Nautech Commodore that races in both the CMC & Northern Musclecar series has just been fitted with a custom 9in rear-end with Endevour floating hubs, adjustable watts linkage & trailing arms, good brakes etc etc.

Justin Butchers Falcon has been in for some more brake upgrades as the new Hampton Downs circuit is proving to be quite challenging on brakes.

The Paul Stubber Aussy built 69 Camaro received a major brake upgrade including billet mono-block Endless front calipers & rotors & Wilwood rears with Endless pads all round, this made a huge difference to the braking capacity of the car & thus his lap times. There were also a few anomalies with the Camaro’s rollcage as far as Motorsport NZ were concerned so a fair portion of the rear structure had to be cut out, redesigned & refabricated to comply.

John Rae’s Corvette has had a new adjustable rear roll-bar designed & fabricated. John carry’s out the rest of the between-race maintenance adequately himself so the balance of his work this last 3 months has just been track-side engineering. This has also been our role with Nick Ross’s NZV8 tourer this last season & we have made steady improvements in car speed over the season. It remains to be seen what the NZV8 governing body will do to try & improve the Commodores lack of pace compared to the Falcons. I believe the engines are comparable now, there just needs to be the correct front & rear geometry changes carried out.

Mandy Sinclair’s Commodore Musclecar has been in the shop periodically to get rid of a few oiling system issues & Mike Hunter’s Historic Formula Ford was bought in for some front & rear suspension work that would enable the use of more rod-ends instead of balljoints & the ability to easily adjust front & rear bumpsteer & allow easier serviceability.
