Race Cars

We can build you a turn-key race car from the ground up, or we can fine-tune an existing race car. We can fabricate new items, or provide advice on getting the best from an existing set-up. Please visit our Projects page to see some of the work we have carried out for other customers.

We have a fully equipped welding and machine shop and work exclusively with TIG welding, for greater strength, quality, and appearance. We have an excellent panelbeater and painter, electrician, CNC shop, and upholsterer to handle all the necessary outwork for a complete turn-key project. We have car scales and a lot of experience with them (both in New Zealand and overseas) so we're able to corner weight the car, give the amount of front versus rear weight bias and left to right side comparisons. As a lot of people will verify, it is one thing to have scales, its another to use them to their full potential. All race cars that have a reasonable amount of work carried out get set-up on our race scales before leaving the shop and we provide a free day at the track to settle the car in and work with the driver on getting a comfortable set-up with the car.
We work to a high standard and focus on keeping things clean, tidy, uncluttered and user friendly. This always takes longer in the design stage but pays dividends down the track with repair/maintenance times being lower and potential failures reduced.

We offer trackside engineering and mechanical service as well and are regularly bringing in parts from Australia and the USA so have established suppliers and reliable shipping. We also offer pre-purchase checks on cars of all makes both here and in Australia/USA.

Road Cars

So many modified and hobbyist road cars suffer from poor tuning, be it engine or chassis tuning. We like to focus on what we call 'driveability', ie, nice throttle application, carburettor, and chassis tuning.

So many cars have had a carburettor change over the years and they are often not set up correctly. They stumble, surge, chew fuel, flood, leak etc. Transmission tuning i.e, the right converter, shift points, kick down etc, make a huge difference to everyday driveability. Also, cooling, brakes, suspension and the right combination of each for the owners intent for the car.
Cars often pull to one side or the other, brakes grab, gear changes are too aggressive, or vice-versa, ride is poor, or the wrong diff ratio has been chosen.

These are areas that can all detract from the performance, and enjoyment of a car. They can also detract from a vehicles value.
